HOMECOMING EVENTS ELEVATES AFRICAN EXCELLENCE WITH THE RETURN OF THE SUN CITY TAKEOVER 2026
Homecoming Events (HCE) officially sets the tone for what is poised to be its most ambitious experience yet: the return of the Sun City Takeover 2026.

Positioned at the intersection of culture, travel, and premium lifestyle experiences, Homecoming Events continues to solidify its role not only as an event organiser but as a leading creative and event consultancy, shaping modern African social experiences at scale.
Renowned as one of South Africa’s most sought-after destination lifestyle events, the Sun City Takeover has evolved into more than just a weekend escape; it is a cultural phenomenon. With both the 2024 and 2025 editions selling out months in advance and 2025 selling out in under an hour, the demand has been nothing short of unprecedented.
In 2026, HCE answers that demand with a bold promise: more scale, more energy, and more unforgettable moments, further reinforcing its position as a market leader in premium, culturally driven eventing.
6 – 9 NOVEMBER 2026 A NEW ERA: BIGGER, BETTER, BOLDER
The 2026 edition signals a significant evolution of the Takeover, expanding its footprint across Sun City Resort to deliver a fully immersive, multi-day experience for a growing community of socially active, experience-driven young professionals.
This expansion also reflects a broader vision: reimagining Sun City – widely recognised as South Africa’s premier integrated resort and one of the country’s most iconic tourism destinations as a vibrant youth lifestyle and cultural tourism hub, where travel, music, fashion, and community intersect.
Sun City Resort continues to set the benchmark for luxury leisure and entertainment in the region, offering a world-class backdrop that elevates every moment of the Takeover experience.
This year’s enhancements include:
• Expanded Capacity: An additional 1,500 guests, bringing the total to 3,500 attendees — unlocking greater opportunity for connection, culture, and premium brand engagement.
• Three Elevated Day Clubs: Activations now extend across The Cabanas, The Cascades, and Sun City Hotel, creating a seamless, all-day luxury experience across the resort.
• The Return of the Beach Party: The iconic Valley of Waves transforms into an Afro-Tech playground on Saturday, bringing high-energy sounds back to the water.
• Extended Programming: From sunrise wellness sessions to late-night finales, the Takeover now spans four days of curated touchpoints — including the debut Golf Day and the signature Majita Monday close-out.
With international-standard execution and bold, premium cultural influence, the Takeover continues to set the benchmark for large-scale lifestyle experiences on the continent.
“Sun City Resort is proud to continue its partnership with Homecoming Events on the Sun City Takeover – an experience that perfectly aligns with our vision of positioning the resort as a leading lifestyle and entertainment destination in Africa,” says Brett Hoppe, Sun City Resort General Manager.
“This collaboration demonstrates the power of world-class events in driving tourism, cultural exchange, and economic impact. The Takeover brings a new generation of energy to the resort, and we are excited to once again host an experience that showcases Sun City at its very best.”
A CURATED FOUR-DAY EXPERIENCE
Designed for a generation that values both travel and cultural immersion, the Sun City Takeover blends luxury, music, wellness, and social connection into one unforgettable journey – a reflection of African excellence delivered at scale.
Friday, 6 November | Arrival & Opening Moments
The experience begins with a first-of-its-kind Golf Day at the prestigious Lost City Golf Course, setting a refined tone for the weekend. As the day unfolds, guests transition into the now-iconic Day Clubs, offering a vibrant, sun-soaked introduction to the Takeover energy.
Saturday, 7 November | Energy Meets Elegance
From an early morning Run Club & Padel Club, to the highly anticipated Valley of Waves Beach Party, Saturday delivers a perfect balance of movement and celebration. The day culminates in the signature All White Party — an elegant, highfashion nightlife experience where music, style, and culture collide.
Sunday, 8 November | The Grand Finale
The Takeover reaches its peak with Fon City, HCE’s iconic TshwaneFontein Sun City Edition. Hosted at the Sun Park, this electrifying finale brings together music, community, and spectacle in a way only Homecoming can.
Monday, 9 November | The Wind-Down
Closing the experience is Majita Monday at the Sun City Shebeen, a more intimate yet vibrant send-off, giving attendees space to unwind, connect, and relive the weekend’s most memorable moments.
MORE THAN AN EVENT – A CULTURAL MOMENT
Since its inception, the Sun City Takeover has redefined the destination event landscape in South Africa. It speaks directly to a new generation of travellers aged 23 to 45 – who seek meaningful experiences, premium environments, and unforgettable social moments.
It is also a powerful reflection of Homecoming’s growth as a premium, black-owned event producer, driving both cultural relevance and tangible economic impact through strategic large-scale activations like the Sun City Takeover and its broader event portfolio.
With a dynamic audience made up of 60% women and 40% men, and packages ranging from R12,000 to R30,000, the Takeover continues to attract a high-value, highly engaged community.

“This is more than just growth – it’s a response to a community that has continuously shown up for us and demanded more,” says Athabile Ngxamngxa, Managing Director of Homecoming Events.
“With the 2026 Sun City Takeover, we are intentionally scaling every touchpoint of the experience – from the programming to the environments – to ensure it remains premium, culturally relevant, and unforgettable. We’re not just hosting an event; we’re curating moments that reflect how our audience wants to live, connect, and
celebrate.
At its core, this is about showcasing African excellence at scale – proving that homegrown experiences can meet, and exceed, global standards while remaining deeply rooted in our culture.”
THE TAKEOVER CONTINUES
As anticipation builds toward November 2026, one thing is certain: this is not just an event – it’s a movement.
In partnership with leading lifestyle brand GalXBoy and other key collaborators, the Sun City Takeover continues to push the boundaries of culture, fashion, and experiential storytelling.
