From One Bold Idea to a Growing Hospitality Legacy: The Story of Pamela Niemand
There are entrepreneurs who enter established industries, and there are those who see an opportunity to do things differently. Pamela Niemand belongs to the latter.
Her entrepreneurial journey has been defined by an ability to look beyond conventional business models and develop ideas that respond to changing consumer expectations.
In the hospitality industry, Pamela recognised that travellers wanted more than a traditional hotel room. They wanted premium service without sacrificing the comfort, flexibility and practicality of having an apartment.

That insight led to the development of a pioneering accommodation concept that is widely recognised as South Africa’s first apartment hotel.
The idea became the beginning of a much larger journey. Today, the Executive Apartment Hotel Group includes Ellipse Executive Apartments in Waterfall City and One Rosebank Executive Apartment Hotel, demonstrating how Pamela’s original vision has continued to develop.
Yet, her entrepreneurial legacy is not limited to hospitality properties.
Pamela views business as a means of creating opportunities. Through employment and skills development, she aims to ensure that the growth of her businesses also contributes to the growth of the people who work within them.

Her philosophy is grounded in the belief that success requires persistence. Ideas may provide the starting point, but it is discipline, action and resilience that turn those ideas into sustainable businesses.
Beyond hospitality, Pamela is also pursuing strategic partnerships and investments across different sectors as she continues to expand her entrepreneurial footprint.
Her vision for the future is to establish the Executive Apartment Hotel Group as a globally recognised African hospitality brand, proving that world-class businesses can be developed from the continent while retaining a strong sense of purpose.

As Women’s Month provides an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of women across South Africa, Pamela’s journey offers a compelling example of what entrepreneurial courage can produce.
It is a story of a woman who did not simply enter an industry, but chose to challenge its conventions, create something new and build a legacy with the potential to extend far beyond her own success.
