Nkululeko Khanyi Foundation set to Host A Massive National Men & Boys Mental Health Conference This July, A Call To Action For Men To “SPEAK UP”
MIDRAND, SOUTH AFRICA – The Nkululeko Khanyi Foundation, an award-winning non-profit organization, has announced it will host a groundbreaking national conference dedicated to Men & Boys Mental Health Awareness. The event will take place in Midrand on July 25, 2026, and is expected to draw over 2,500 attendees from across South Africa. For the past 14 years, the Nkululeko Khanyi Foundation has stood as a leading voice in South Africa, tackling mental health issues, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and various social ills affecting communities.
The organization’s impactful work has earned it both local and international accolades. Driven by a vision to bring hope and lasting change, foundation founder Mr. Nkululeko Khanyi launched the Ungazibulali Ndoda loosely translated “Man, Don’t Kill Yourself”) initiative, however the entire call to action goes deeper than that , it is about extending an open space for men to speak up , take accountability and be vulnerable as part of their demonstration of how they choose to show up in the world.
The campaign aims to shatter the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and provide a vital lifeline to those suffering in silence. The statistics surrounding male suicide in South Africa are devastating. Since the start of the year, an estimated 83,000 men have tragically lost their lives to suicide, meaning families across the country face funerals nearly every single day. Mr. Khanyi, a mental health specialist and suicide survivor himself, reports that his organization has received over 5,000 distress calls from individuals seeking help.
Notably, 95% of these calls come from men. “Men are bleeding in silence, and the numbers are growing every day because their voices are not being heard,” says Mr. Khanyi. “Men also cry. Men are human. Indoda iyabuzwa ubuhlungu (a man feels pain). We need to change the narrative before we lose more fathers, brothers, and sons. The conference will gather key stakeholders, government officials, artists & thought leaders ,mental health experts, and survivors to address these systemic issues and build actionable solutions.
Members of the media, community leaders, and the public are invited to attend and support this crucial national intervention. The media launch for this initiative is set to be on the 9th July 2026 at SABC Auditorium where the founders and the media will be in conversation about what to expect on the day of the conference
The #UngazibulaliNdonda Conference looks to set the tone and challenge the status you in confronting how the boy child / Men are not forgotten as part of the foundation of the shape of society , encouraging accountability & facing the world head on , this promises to be an impactful , lesson filled but also entertaining day for all attendees with a stellar line up to look forward to .
