From township dreams to industry success, Jozi Entertainment’s Music Workshop aims to empower, educate and inspire the next generation of South African artists to turn their passion into purpose and their talent into lasting careers
Dreams of making it in the music industry often begin in bedrooms, garages and community halls. On 4 July 2026, Jozi Entertainment hopes to help turn some of those dreams into reality when it hosts the highly anticipated Jozi Entertainment Music Workshop at the Dumisani Masilela Theatre in Germiston.
Led by award-winning music executive and Jozi Entertainment founder Lebo Mlangeni, the workshop is designed to give aspiring artists, producers, songwriters and entertainment entrepreneurs access to the knowledge, mentorship and industry connections needed to build lasting careers in music.
Powered by CAPASSO and presented in partnership with the City of Ekurhuleni and the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, the initiative represents a powerful investment in South Africa’s creative future.
For many young creatives, talent alone is not enough. Understanding music rights, publishing, branding, marketing, distribution and the business side of entertainment can often be the difference between remaining undiscovered and building a successful career. The workshop aims to bridge that gap by bringing together respected industry leaders, professionals and decision-makers who have helped shape South Africa’s music landscape.
Jozi Entertainment has long been recognised as one of the country’s leading independent entertainment companies, earning multiple accolades and achieving multi-platinum success while nurturing local talent. Through this workshop, the company hopes to pass on the lessons, opportunities and industry insights that have contributed to its success.
Speaking about the initiative, Lebo Mlangeni said the workshop is about creating opportunities for young people who may not otherwise have access to the music industry.
“The future of South African music lies in the hands of the young creatives coming after us. We want to give them more than inspiration, we want to give them practical knowledge, real opportunities and access to the people who can help them grow. Every successful artist started somewhere, and this workshop could be the beginning of a life-changing journey for someone sitting in that audience.”
Mlangeni added that empowering young creatives is essential for the continued growth of the country’s cultural and creative economy.
“There is incredible talent in our communities. Sometimes all it takes is one conversation, one lesson or one opportunity to change a person’s life. We want young people to leave this workshop believing that their dreams are possible and equipped with the tools to pursue them.”
The Jozi Entertainment Music Workshop stands as a celebration of creativity, ambition and the power of education. It also reflects a shared commitment by Jozi Entertainment, CAPASSO, the City of Ekurhuleni and the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation to invest in youth development and help cultivate the next generation of South African music stars.
Members of the media, aspiring artists, music lovers and industry stakeholders are encouraged to attend what promises to be an inspiring and transformative day dedicated to unlocking potential and building brighter futures through music. Attendance is open to all. Those interested are requested to RSVP via email at jozientertainmentpr@gmail.com or by phone at 0614395806.
