Nia Pearl mesmerises with a celestial performance and Metro FM nominations celebration
From an intimate three-course dinner to a stunning all-white stage show, Nia Pearl’s Artistry performance celebrated music, artistry, and her four major Metro FM Awards nods.
Under the soft glow of Sandton’s evening skyline, Artistry became more than a venue – it transformed into a sanctuary of sound, elegance, and celebration as South African multi-platinum selling singer and songwriter Nia Pearl delivered a performance that lingered somewhere between dream and devotion.
The night began not with music, but with intimacy. Carefully curated and deeply intentional exquisite three-course dinner, where conversation flowed as effortlessly guest enjoyed sips of J.C. Le Roux. Each course set the tone for an evening that would soon transcend the ordinary but an opportunity to connect, reflect, and celebrate artistry in its purest form.
Then, as anticipation settled as guests were ushered into the theatre where the lights softened and the atmosphere shifted. Emerging onto a stage draped entirely in white, Nia Pearl appeared almost celestial in an all-white ensemble, her blonde hair – she embodied both grace and quiet power. Behind her, a four-piece band also dressed in white completed the visual harmony.

The evening was not only a showcase of musical brilliance, but also a celebration. Nia Parl took the moment to honour her recent nominations for her contribution to “Shela,” alongside Sam Deep and Boohle. The track has earned recognition across major categories: Best Collaboration, Song of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Amapiano – a testament to its cultural impact and sonic excellence.
Reflecting on the nominations, Nia Pearl shared:
“Performing at Artistry was magical, and these nominations are a reminder that the music is reaching hearts. I’m grateful to my fans, my team, and everyone who continues to support my journey.”
Public voting remains open – costing R1.50, and closing on 19 April.
QUESTION AND ANSWERS with NIA PEARL
Why is it crucial to engage with your audience through live performances?
Live performances are about energy exchange. Streaming lets people enjoy the music, but on stage, I get to feel their emotions, see their reactions, and create a shared moment that cannot be replicated. It is about building a bond that goes beyond sound—it is spirit meeting spirit.
Which of your four Metro FM Music Awards nominations excites you the most?
Every nomination is a blessing, but the Song of the Year nomination excites me the most. That category represents how deeply a track resonates with people, and knowing that my music has touched so many lives is the ultimate reward.
When did your music journey begin, and did a young Nia Pearl ever envision receiving a nomination for a Metro?
My journey began when I was very young, singing at family gatherings and writing little verses in my notebook. Back then, I dreamed of stages and recognition, but I could not have imagined the reality of being nominated for a Metro FM Award. It feels surreal, yet it is the universe affirming that I am on the right path.
How do you feel your music connects with fans across South Africa?
I believe my music connects with fans because it speaks to shared experiences. Amapiano is more than just a sound – it is a lifestyle that reflects the rhythm of our communities. When people dance to my songs or sing along to the lyrics, they are not just enjoying the music; they are reliving moments of joy, love, and resilience. My goal has always been to create music that feels personal yet universal, so that whether someone is in Soweto, Durban or Cape Town, they can find a piece of themselves in.
Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your music writing style and well-curated stage performances?
My inspiration comes from everyday life, love, resilience, and the rhythm of our communities. Writing is like storytelling for me; I weave emotions into melodies. On stage, I curate performances to be immersive, blending sound, visuals, and movement so the audience feels like they are part of the journey, not just watching it.
Which other artists do you hope to collaborate with this year?
I would love to collaborate with Tems, whose soulful sound on songs has inspired me deeply. Tyla is another artist I admire – her global hit Water shows how South African talent can resonate worldwide. Working with Yvonne Chaka Chaka would be a dream, as her timeless classics carry the spirit of our heritage. I am also drawn to Beatenberg, whose fusion of indie and African brings such a refreshing energy. Each of these artists has a unique voice and style, and together we could create something timeless that blends Amapiano with their distinct sounds.
What can fans expect from you in the year ahead?
Fans can expect more music that pushes boundaries, new singles, collaborations and performances that celebrate music while exploring fresh sounds. I am also working on a project that blends live instrumentation with mostly all genres so expect something innovative and heartfelt. This year is about growth and I want my fans to grow with me.
