Award-winning South African vocalist Vusi Nova releases his deeply personal new single, Asinilibelanga, on Friday, 30 October 2026, a moving tribute to the musicians, entertainers and cultural icons who have passed away but continue to shape the country’s musical and cultural landscape.
A follow-up to his much-loved song Asiphelelanga, the new single revisits themes of loss, remembrance and the enduring power of music. With Asinilibelanga, Vusi Nova invites South Africans to celebrate the lives and legacies of those who gave the country unforgettable songs, meaningful moments and memories that continue to connect generations.
“We have lost so many beautiful souls who gave so much of themselves to our music, our culture and our lives. Their voices may be silent, but what they contributed to this country will never disappear. They gave us songs that became part of our stories, moments that brought us together and memories that we will carry forever,” says Vusi Nova.
“With Asinilibelanga, I want us to remember them not only with sadness, but with gratitude and celebration. This festive season, when we sing and dance, let us do so in their honour. Let us celebrate the lives they lived, the joy they gave us and the legacies they left behind. We have not forgotten them, and we never will.”
Blending heartfelt emotion with the spirit of celebration, Asinilibelanga encourages listeners to remember their fallen stars through music, dancing and gratitude. It acknowledges the pain of losing people who have shaped the country’s entertainment industry while celebrating the lasting influence of their work.
The single arrives as Vusi Nova continues his Here to Stay National Tour, a nationwide concert experience celebrating a decade of his landmark album Naninina and introducing audiences to his latest EP, Here to Stay.
Presented by Nova Sounds, the tour opened at The Ridge in Emalahleni on Saturday, 17 October, with performances by opening acts Kwanda and 047. The tour continues to Tshwane on 6 November, followed by Cape Town on 13 and 14 November and Gqeberha on 21 and 22 November.
For Vusi Nova, both the single and the tour reflect the lasting relationship between music, memory and the people who give songs meaning. While the tour celebrates his musical journey and the connection he shares with his fans, Asinilibelanga offers a moment to honour the artists and cultural figures whose contributions remain part of South Africa’s collective story.
As the festive season approaches, the release is a reminder that remembrance and celebration can exist together. The people we have lost may no longer be physically present, but their voices, artistry and influence continue to live on through the music and memories they leave behind.
With Asinilibelanga, Vusi Nova invites the country to remember, celebrate and keep their legacies alive.
