Local craftsmanship meets modern motherhood
In an era where having it all often feels like doing it all alone, a new South African initiative, Raising Awesome, is stepping in to bridge the gap between career ambition and present parenting.
Founded by Jade Bechara, the organisation is introducing a suite of practical tools and a community hub specifically designed to ease the working mom guilt that affects millions of women across diverse cultural backgrounds.
The core of Raising Awesome is rooted in a return to intentionality. Unlike mass-produced solutions, every item offered – from organisational planners to parenting tools is a labour of love. In a dedicated home studio, Jade, alongside her husband and small team, personally manages the entire production process. Every piece is printed in-house and finished with meticulous hand-stitching, ensuring that the quality reflects the care and resilience of the mothers they serve.
“We wanted to create something that feels human in a digital world,” said: Jade. “Working mom guilt doesn’t discriminate, it affects every woman, whether she’s in a corporate boardroom or running a small business. Our goal when we started was to create a community and a range of convenient, practical tools that honour the cultural diversity of South African moms while making their daily lives tangibly easier.”
Raising Awesome products are more than a stationery or goods brand; it is a movement toward practical motherhood.
The initiative focuses on:
- Guilt reduction: Shifting the narrative from perfection to presence.
- Cultural inclusivity: Designing products and community spaces that resonate with the unique family structures and traditions of all South African women.
- Convenience: Providing high-quality, hand-crafted solutions that save time and reduce mental load.
As the brand grows, Jade and her team remain committed to the hand-stitched philosophy, proving that the most effective support for the modern working mother is one that is built by hand, from the heart.
